Chara Palekythriti

Founder of C. Palekythriti Law Office

Chara Palekythriti studied LL.B. Law at the University of Sheffield and she holds an LL.M. (Master of Laws) from City, University of London, with Distinction. Chara holds also an M.B.A. (Master of Business Administration) from the Mediterranean Institute of Management with Distinction, having graduated on top of all postgraduate students of the Institute of all programmes. Chara is also an Accredited Mediator and holds a Professional Diploma in Sports Law (Football Track).

Before launching her own law firm, Chara worked at one of the biggest law firms in Cyprus as well as at the Attorney General's Office.

 

Chara has substantive experience in negotiating, drafting and revising commercial and other agreements, in providing solid legal advice on various matters as well as in representing individuals, companies and public authorities before the Courts and other bodies. She has also experience in dealing with other dispute resolution processes, such as arbitration, whilst she is also familiar with GDPR compliance instruments.

Throughout her career so far, she has dealt with a wide spectrum of of legal matters in the sectors of commerce, trade, oil and gas, intellectual property, public procurement, employment, advertisement, international protection, immigration, data protection and cyber law as well as construction and real estate.

Chara is often appraised for her advocacy, analytical and drafting skills.

Notable projects:​

  • Co - represented the applicant in the Application no.1/2024 before the Supreme Constitutional Court. The Court provided leave to the applicant to be heard on the merits.

  • ​Represented the appellee in the Civil Appeal no. 279/2019 before the Court of Appeal. Successfully obtained an order of security of costs against the appellant.

  • Represented the defendant in an action filed before the District Court and successfully settled the dispute for less than 1/3 of the action's amount.

  • Provided legal advice on the interpretation and applicability of the EU Regulation 1308/2013 regarding producer organisations (POs), associations of producer organisations (APOs) and interbranch organisations.

  • Provided legal advice on the interpretation and applicability of the legislation underlying lobbying in Cyprus (Law 20(I)/2022). 

  • Provided legal advice to a franchisee regarding the termination of a sub-franchise contract.
